About Pozas del Chipitín (hidrofobia, matacanes):

the closest bolted climbs I know off is "el salto" there are ALOT of cliffs and boulders the area is actually more known for its canyoneering more than climbing. but of course the bolts for the rappels will serve as top ropes if you want to climb back up the waterfall. It is an absolutely GORGEOUS area great camping. and legendary canyoneering including sections where the river goes underground and you get to follow it through. a guide is strongly recomended in fact required by local authorities for some of the canyoneering stretches since once you start the only way to finish is to keep going and you need to know where to jump off the waterfalls etc...
Nearest town or city: Monterrey
Directions: head south out of monterrey towards ciudad victoria turn right by the huge sign for Hotel cola de caballo (you will start to see a lake on left shortly before the turn) drive past the hotel and take the first major gravel road to your left in a spot called genoveva (or something very similar). signs there will say las adjuntas, potrero redondo and I believe also cascada chipitin. follow the gravel road. the first river crossing with a real bridge is the ending point for the canyoneers follow the river down 45 minute walk to the pozas or continue up the road to first town (truck needed) to reach potrero redondo inquire there for the trail head to the waterfall (hidrophobia) or to matacanes.
