Description:

APPROACH--11 miles from the 7,200 foot landing strip on the Southeast Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier, via the East Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier to 11,000 feet; move quickly and camp wisely to minimize avalanche danger in the East Fork.

TOTAL TIME--12 to 21 days

VERTICAL GAIN--8,500 feet

DIFFICULTIES & DANGERS--5,000 feet of 60 to 100 degree snow and ice climbing, with sections of rock up to 5.9.

CAMPS--11,800 (base of first rock); 12,300 (bivouac); 13,400 (tent); 14,500 (bivouac); 15,900 (bivouac); 16,900 (tent); 18,400 (tent).
