About Savage Mountain:

This mountain, which is accessible to anyone, really fools anyone who thinks it's just a hike. After a thousand feet of switchbacks and another thousand feet of hiking up fifty degree tundra, the route picks up hard granite, and it requires some concentration. The route follows a jack-knife ridge from a string of false summits. A few misplaced steps on either side will lead to a thousand foot fall. Near the end, you need to scramble/boulder directly over some larger rocks. Bonus: There is a neat rock formation that overlooks the parking lot. A path leads to the back but either way, there is some pretty serious climbing to get out on the lip. Hand holds are strong and dry but there are some real hairy sections.
