Hurdygurdy Mountain is the obvious peak to the west of Eagle Peak. Between the two mountains is an area reachable by crossing the river from the trail just before Echo Bend. From the river, you can see the ice on the lower buttress of the mountain. To reach the routes, climb up the creek, always following the left drainage. Approach times can vary from three to six hours depending on the conditions, camping overnight is highly recommended, as the days during the winter are usually six hours long or less. There are still several routes on the buttress awaiting first ascents.
