About South Birchwood Roadcut Bouldering:

This is a roadcut through a band of rock just off of the Glenn Highway. The rock is not of the greatest quality, but for those in the area that just "have to" get a quick problem after work in, this is probably the most accessible area there is. The top outs are gross and dirty, and usually covered in moss and weeds. Traversing is probably the better thing to do, watch out for loose holds, and eliminate holds larger than one inch for more of a challenge.
Nearest town or city: Chugiak
Directions: Heading north from Anchorage on the Glenn Highway, pass both Eagle River exits and exit to the right on the SOUTH BIRCHWOOD ROAD exit. Turn right on South Birchwood Road, and you will see the chossy roadcut right in front of you. Park on the shoulder, hop out and boulder.
