Description:

This route is visible from the Begich-Boggs Visitor center to the south of the road. It is about one mile east of Middle Glacier Canyon and sits very high on the right side of a huge avalanche chute. Park just east of the Visitor Center and thrash through the trees to the base of the chute. Assess the avalanche conditions before attempting this approach. Climb up the chute for about 500 feet to reach the base of the route. The route goes up about 200 feet of WI2-3 ice over some short bulges to a large belay ledge. From the left side of the ledge, climb the remaining 300 feet to the top, belaying from the trees on the right of the climb, which is nicely undulating 70 to 80 degree ice. Descend the snow gully on the right if conditions are stable, if not, you must leave gear or v-thread back down the route.
