One can either charter a flight to the upper Knik Glacier between Mt. Goode and Marcus Baker, or travel up-glacier twenty miles and risk all the hazards and technical difficulties that come with extended glacier travel (particularly on the lower Knik, which is heavily crevassed). Once on the upper Knik, head towards Marcus Baker up a prominent valley onto a ridge that leads onto the main buttress. From here, travel to a large plateau that leads to the mountains summit pyramid. This particular side of the mountain is prone to horrific weather conditions and heavy snow year-round due to its proximity to Prince William Sound. There are various reports of climbers being stranded on the upper Knik for weeks due to extreme weather. Hope for a five-day trip, plan for three weeks.
