About Hicks Creek ICE:

Located about 100 miles north of Anchorage, Hicks Creek is well worth the trip. Snowmachines are handy for approach if the creek has frozen up, but you must wait until late in the season to ensure that this high volume creek has no open leads. The routes are about three to four miles up the creek from the highway, through a spectacular narrow canyon.
Nearest town or city: Chickaloon
Directions: Park at the Hick's Creek Lodge at Mile 96.5 of the Glenn Highway. Please ask the lodge owner's permission to leave vehicles and unload snowmachines. It always helps if you head in to warm up after the day and give him some business, plus the warmth and good food are a grat way to end a day on the ice. From the lot, head up the creek through a narrow gorge about three to four miles, where you will see Road Kill on your left. The other routes are farther up the drainage.
