About Watson Lake Dells:

Beautiful scenery with views of Watson Lake while climbing in a myriad of granite dome formations. The rock is similar in quality to that found in Joshua Tree NP. Routes are generally short with a mix of trad and bolts, plus there is a lot of bouldering. The largest concentration of routes are in the canyons formed by the numerous rock ridges that spread out from the lake's NW shoreline about mid way to the damn. Finding a particular route can be a bit confusing, but pleasant trails and lots of bare rock make the search enjoyable. Parking is free.
Nearest town or city: Prescott
Directions: From Prescott head north on Hwy 89 to Willow Lake Rd. turn right at the light into the Watson Lake Park. Inside the park turn left towards the boat ramp and park in the lot prior to reaching the boat ramp. From the boat ramp area hike north along the west shore of the lake and look for trails that lead up into the rocky canyons to the west. Just about every canyon has some routes. The city is redoing the roads and camp/picnic areas inside the park. The directions above are still accurate as of July 2004, but expect some changes in the coming months.
