About Courthouse Rock:
| A large volcanic monolith easily seen just south of I-10 about 75 miles west of Phoenix. The only route til a few years ago was the mountaineers route. It got you up on a 1000' summit with easy but cautious climbing requiring routefinding skills. The other established route does not require routefinding and it can be used as an alternative and more challenging way to the top. |
| Nearest town or city: | Tonopah |
| Directions: | Take I-10 west to Salome Rd and turn south to courthouse road. Turn Right/west and drive several miles down a 2wd road that gets rougher. Trend right at the pipeline, continuing west til you pass an antenna/pole and look for a road heading south. Take that road and go til it ends at the wilderness boundary and park. Walk to the rock about 1/2 mile away. |
