Drive south from Tucson on I-19 to the Canoa Road exit (#56). Go three miles south on the east frontage road to Elephant Head Road and make a left. Keep following the road as it changes direction and names a few times (to Canoa , then Hawk). When it ends at a dirt road keep going. You could take a car on this road if you cared nothing whatsoever about it, but some sort of high-center vehicle is a better idea. At 1.5 miles the road forks at a big wash. Take the left fork with the gate. At about .4 mile take a right at a cross road and go down into the wash. The road deteriorates here. Follow the road through two more gates. |
