About Mono Ridge Boulders:

These are the large boulders that one sees from Mono Basin going toward Bridgeport on the hill. The rock quality is not the best and it seems many people have not climbed there. Though some have as we found chalk on two problems. There are many boulders that are untouched, however, there are many more boulders of dubious rock quality, a problem here. Since it seems many boulders are untouched some of the routes one puts up will require a large amount of cleaning, though others are of perfect smooth granite. One must hike from qulaity rock to quality rock (about five to ten minute walks). Will post pictures of the routes we have done out there along with a vague description of how to get there.
Nearest town or city: Mono City
Directions: Going N. on 395 pass Hwy. 167. Continue North for 3.0 miles until one sees a large dirt pullout on the left. You can either park here or take the first dirt right that is directly across from the pullout. From here walk up the road. The first quality boulder is on the left and resembles a large white egg. The problems on there range from V0-V5 and there are about 6 problems in all. The next solid boulders are downhill and across the stream. The best being a traversing flaring V2 crack that is a little highballish.
