About Ritter Range:

This spectacular range is readily accessible-if you want to hike in for 8-12 miles. All of my climbing in the area has been done from a base camp at Thousand Island Lake. Alpine climbing including glaciers can be found. Lots of good rock routes in the area. My personal favorite is the NW shoulder of Banner Peak.
Nearest town or city: Mammoth Lakes
Directions: From Mammoth Lakes, go to Agnew Meadow and hike from there up to Lake Ediza which is below the Ritter/Banner saddle. During peak season, you are required to ride a shuttle from the Mammoth Ski Area to the trailhead. You can also get to Thousand Island Lake from Agnew Meadows. Thousand Island Lake can also be reached from the June Lake area.
