Powell Boulder
About Powell Boulder:
| Located on the northern edge of The Outback. The lone boulder at the base of Dutzi Rock. Dutzi Rock is the home to such classics as Elusive Butterfly and Pinhead. Two must-not-miss classics. The Powell Boulder sits on the desert floor, at the base of the talus leading up to Mt. Dutzi. It is easy to spot due to its pointy head and small roof on its right side. If you are doing any scrambling, you are not in the right place. The hillside to the left of Dutzi Rock is known as Mt. Dutzi, both named after a talented climber that was a Josh fixture in the late 70's. |
| Approach: | After walking North out of the far end of the C Loop of HVCG, continue past the Rock Hudson formation, home of Hot Rocks and then past Dinosaur Rock (both on your right as you walk north) and Mt. Dutzi will now be about 350 yards away directly in front of you. |
