About Rainbow:

The rainbow cirque is the obvious granite bowl visible looking south from I-80 about 15 minutes west of Truckee. This unique zone features about 30 climbs on mostly smooth, water polished granite with routes from 5.9 to 5.13 and beyond. Most routes are bolted, slabby, frictionesque problems average 50' long or so with a few longer and shorter classics thrown in. Bolts protect the majority of these awesome routes, but a few crackz and trad lines can be found in the mix. Bottom line, this is an awesome area that see's very lil' action, even on weekends. There also is plenty of potential for new routes along with an endless supply of wicked boulder problems, especially in the upper v-hard realm. If you do decide to check this place out, please be concious of the private property access near the bottom, follow a leave-no-trace policy when visiting and if you do find a line you want to establish, of which there a number of possibilities... please review local guidebooks for FA info and local ethics. This is a special place, please respect it as if it was your own.
