The rainbow cirque is the obvious granite bowl visible looking south from I-80 about 15 minutes west of Truckee. This unique zone features about 30 climbs on mostly smooth, water polished granite with routes from 5.9 to 5.13 and beyond. Most routes are bolted, slabby, frictionesque problems average 50' long or so with a few longer and shorter classics thrown in. Bolts protect the majority of these awesome routes, but a few crackz and trad lines can be found in the mix.
Bottom line, this is an awesome area that see's very lil' action, even on weekends. There also is plenty of potential for new routes along with an endless supply of wicked boulder problems, especially in the upper v-hard realm.
