About Texas Canyon:

Several independent rocks offering climbing up to two pitches in a quiet canyon setting (save for the occasional dirt bike or two). The rock is a sandstone conglomerate which tends to be chossy however there are good routes here and the climbing could improve with additonal traffic. Almost all the routes are bolted and most of the longer routes tend to be fairly moderate. A Forest Adventure Pass is required - you WILL get a citation from the rangers who lurk in this area.
Nearest town or city: Santa Clarita
Directions: Driving north on Hwy 14 from the San Fernando Valley exit at Sand Canyon Road. Follow this west to Sierra Hwy., make a right then follow this north (paralleling Hwy 14) to a left (west) leading towards the Rowar Flats ORV Area (signed). Park at the roads end and hike downhill and left to the climbing area (about 15 minutes).
