About Black Mountain:

A drive up a dusty road will bring you to a forest littered with beautiful granite boulders. Most of the problems here are OTD and hard. The landings couldn't be better though, flat and generally soft. Well worth a visit! In the winter the road is locked, so don't bother, unless you're up for a stout hike in. This is a prime summer/fall spot due to the elevation.
Nearest town or city: Idyllwild
Directions: From the I-10, between Redlands and Palm Springs, exit on 243 towards Idyllwild. Continue up the road for about 19 miles. You will see a sign for Black Mountain that leads you to the left up a winding dirt road. Follow this road for about 4 miles to reach the turnout for OK Coral. Continue up the road a few more miles to reach Boulder Basin and the other Camp Grounds.
