About Granite Arch Climbing Center:

Routes are typically set by relatively inexperienced climbers, so Pipeworks climbing gym is your best bet if it's not too far away for you. However, the rock surface at GA is a lot more natural looking than most gyms, so its worth checking out. Group Rates 2 hours managed climbing $16.00 per climber Birthday parties, Scouts, Schools, Church groups, etc. (minimum 6 climbers, reservations required) 4 hours self managed climbing $10 weekdays, $12.00 weekends 10 person minimum, 1 to 5 ratio belayers to climbers required for self managed groups. Belay classes are at regular times, so plan ahead. Reservations Required. Belay/Safety class, $7.00 for the class or $2.00 for a tuneup. Class lasts 45 to 60 minutes, and are taught every two hours on the even hour starting at noon. Tuneups last about 10 minutes. Testing is done every 30 minutes on the 1/4 hour. ALL belayers at Granite Arch must first pass the Granite Arch belay test. If you choose to teach a friend to belay, you will not be tested until you have spent a minimum of 30 minutes teaching, and there will be a $2.00 charge. Take Highway 50 east to the Sunrise Blvd. south exit, turn left at the first traffic signal (Folsom Blvd.), and drive 1/2 mile to the Granite Arch on the left. From Placerville or points east... Take Highway 50 to the Hazel Ave exit, turn left (south) at the traffic signal on Hazel, then turn right at the second traffic signal (Folsom Blvd.). Drive 2 1/2 miles to the Granite Arch on the right.
