Description:

Ground Control to Major McNeely is an excellent aid route on the west side of sphinx rock. The route begins on a thin seam about 4-5 feet to the right of an obvious hand crack, take special care wile climbing the first 15-20 feet of the small seam due to the very high potential of ground fall! When you reach the first ledge traverse left and straight up into a small crack the runs the length of the roof (potential ledge fall) and back on to the west face of the rock where you follow the crack straight up for about ten feet then begin to traverse left again till your on the south face where there is a ledge. At this point you can either free climb to the top or do several sketchy aid moves on nuts that barley contact the rock (once again potential ledge fall). When you reach the top you can build your anchor under a boulder that rests on top of sphinx rock. Climb safe.
