Description:
Start on the ledge to the right of the block and traverse around the corner with a bad drop and top out on the next ledge into the cave. Used to be a v5 if you finish on the 5.4 in the chimney but seems rather pointless.

Pain Traverse was another of my contrived problems. It involved a sequence of eliminates that made the traverse much harder than it needed to be... The traverse without the contrivances is shown as a 5.11 (V2) in my 1995 and 2000 edition guidebooks. The 2007 guidebook switched it to V5 and added my name for it, 'Pain Traverse'.
The goal originally was to traverse all the way around Castle Rock, but I never made it the entire way. I did get at least to the 5.6 chimney at one point, though I can't recall all of the details.
