Shady Rock is a small, but clean, member of the so-called Western Addition. Its nearest neighbor is Platypus.
Getting there can be a bit of a trial, but isn't difficult once you've done it. From the main CRSP parking lot, proceed down the Saratoga Gap Trail for about 1/4 mile. Veer left onto a trail which says "Castle Rock 0.3 miles". Continue on this trail for about another 1/4 mile, until you reach an obvious climbers trail on the right, with a sign telling you that this is NOT a trail, and a log across the trail. Take the climbers trail. Continue for 0.1 miles to a small meadow. You'll see multiple trails. Continue straight and climb. On your left you'll see "Chew Tooth". Climb more and you'll see Platypus on the right. Before you reach a nice overview to the southeast, you'll see Shady Rock on the right.
