Description:

As you walk up and right along the base of Mammoth Rock, Proboscis is the first route, starting on the right edge of a small cave. About 50' right of this is "Bridge of Sighs" which is characterized by two 'blobs within the first 25' or so of the route. The first pitch is delicate, edgy, sometimes reachy 5.10+. Belay at the right edge of a large cave, then ascend the right edge of the cave and follow right-angling ramps on easy climbing to a final 20' headwall. A spectacular variation is to climb straight up and left after the cave to join the finish of "Proboscis". Africanized is a 511- variation on the start. Climb under a right-angling overhang to join the second blob on "Bridge of Sighs". So-named for an enormous, tenacious bee's nest that was 10' left of the start on the first ascent.
