| aka "The Little Urban Achievers Crag". You need to see the movie The Big Lebowski to fully appreciate the route names. Guide: Rock Climbing in Santa Barbara and Ventura, Steve Edwards (Falcon, 2000). Approach - take CA 154 off 101 in Santa Barbara to Kinevan Road / West Camino Cielo exit. Go 2.4 mi and park in a little turnout opposite a horse corral where the power lines cross the road. The trailhead is quite obscure. There is an online description at http://www.santabarbarahikes.com/hikes/caminocielo/descriptions/index.shtml?playgrounds Westside is the nice boulder running east-west on the north (uphill) side of the prominent double-humped boulder overlooking the ocean. 10 established routes provide a fun half day of climbing. About 20 minutes to hike in, depending on the state of the trail that gets quite overgrown in places. |
