About Wheeler Gorge:
| Unique sportclimbing on three different rock types...blue schist, sandstone, and a river polished conglomerate. Climbs range from slabs to gently overhanging. Summer and Fall are best. Because of the creek, this area is bearable even on 100 degree days. During wet periods, the canyon is slow to dry out and the water level can be prohibitive. Wheeler is home to a few one-move wonders and softly-graded routes. These make the site great for the aspring 5.11 leader. |
