About Lewis Creek Bouldering:

A beautiful place to spend a day bouldering. Many people drive right past it on their way to Yosemite. A short approach leads to the main area "The Mine" which features boulders strewn along an enchanting creek. The area has lots of ferns, trees and moss. Refreshing dips in rock carved pools is an added bonus. Boulder almost year round except when there is snow build up. A fun diversion is to hike downstream 5 minutes from the parking area to 60 ft tall Courlieu Falls. Bring a big nylon brush for the top outs as some boulders collect pine needles and leaves after a storm. Mosquito repellent in early summer is key beta!
Nearest town or city: Oakhurst
Directions: Drive North from Oakhurst on HWY 41 toward Yosemite. Travel 6 miles or about 12 minutes from town to the Lewis Creek pullout on the right side of the road. The pullout is marked by a small brown sign with a hiker symbol and conspicuously enough "Lewis Creek" - Hike time 10 min. Head down the dirt road on the left with a forest service gate. Stay left until you arrive at Lewis Creek and an amazing log bridge. Cross the bridge and head up the trail until you shortly arrive at a small bridge over a tributary stream. Cross this bridge as well and bust right upstream. A climbers trail quickly leads to the first group of 4 boulders. Explore further upstream for a killer highball on the left and then the Motherload boulder on the right. With some further exploration you may even find the very cool mine.
