Watchtower
About Watchtower:
This is a large broken cliff high above the Stanislaus river Canyon. It contains numerous crack lines including a three pitch 11C that is probably the best crack of grade at Sonora. |
Approach: | There are several approaches possible. Easiest is to take the turn off as for Lost World, and at the second set of intersections go left instead of middle as for lost world. Follow this for about 2 miles until a good camping area on left. If without high clearance, park here. Continue on road up hill, and then make first right turn--about 100 yards. Follow this road until end. Pick up cairns on left side of road, and follow these up hill, and then down into brush. A good trail has been cut in brush. Follow this to a square shape boulder. On the right side of this are rappel anchors for "Riders on the Strom". |
