About Twin Bridges:
Twin Bridges is a small but highly concentrated area of mostly short, steep, sport-bolted knobby face climbs. Some moderate to hard cracks also exist. Most routes can be lowered or TR'ed with a single rope. The approach is long but the wilderness setting is beautiful and quiet. Routes face every direction so its no problem finding shade on a hot day. |
Nearest town or city: | Tuolumne |
Directions: | You can hike down the trail that starts at Lembert Dome toward Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp or park at Pothole dome and hike cross country (shorter). About 4-5 miles from Lembert, the trail crosses the Tuolumne River on a wooden twin bridge (hence the name). Just before reaching the bridge you will have passed a short wall on the right (This is Whatchacallit Dome) that has bolted face climbs and some of the bolts should be easily visible from the trail. Turn right here and hike along the base of Whatchacallit Dome. Soon you will be in sight of Dontcallme Dome straight ahead. |
