Description:

This route had its belay bolts replaced in 2007 with ASCA 3/8" stainless steel, with matching hangers. It follows a direct, steep line on the SW face, between Dihedral and Salathe. The climbing is sustained, but not too hard, mostly A2/A3. When Thanksgiving Ledge is reached (P22), you can either walk left to the West Buttress to finish (the original ascent) or use the later, direct finish of 6 pitches to the summit.

Descent Options:

Either rap Lurking Fear, or walk all the way over to the other side of El Cap, and go down the East Ledges.

5 out of 5 stars Cosmos 5.9 A3

PTPP and I replaced all the old, rotten belay bolts on this fine route. It's a pretty steep, clean, direct and sustained line up the SW face of El Cap. Easier than Excalibur, harder than Son of Heart.
