Description:

This route might surprise you a bit when the initial big honkin' bolt belays give way to u-nail piton belays. You'll think you won't need many pins - NOT. Bring 'em, as they're very handy up high. The huge and spectacular 700-foot-high upper dihedral swallows blue Aliens like a cheap hooker. Mammoth Terraces, Grey Ledges and the ledge below the 19th belay are good bivis, but the rest is portaledge country. Think about how bitchin' Chouinard and Herbert were to knock this bastard off on-sight in a week or so in 1965. It is rumoured that Tommy Caldwell and Tim O'Neil (?) free climbed the whole thing recently.

All went clean, I'd say 1 C4 pitch (P25) and 2 C3+ (P23 and P29) but I may be wrong! Small cams and an affiliation with micro nuts get you through, I hand placed one #1 angle as I don't own offset aliens :( What a lovely top corner!!! DO IT

Uneventful and fun. Amazing views, better views than from the Nose in my opinion. Cool top out with the whole leaving the bags, free climbing thing. Ran out of food, slept, found huge feasts at TTrip and ZM. YEAH!
