The Southwest Face of El Capitan is not the steepest side of the Captain, but has many of the classics including Salathe Wall and The Nose. There is a misperception that because this part is not as overhanging as the Southeast Face, the routes are much easier. Those who believe this have probably not squared off against the endless offwidths of Excalibur or Bermuda Dunes, or the death-defying free runouts and truly sick aid of Jolly Roger.
