Description:

This route starts a few hundred feet right of After 5, which is a few hundred feet right of The Nutcracker. This 400 ft. Buttress is situated on the S.E. side of Manure Pile Buttress (Ranger Rock). In the obvious corner of Commissioner Buttress, 100 ft. above the ground, sits a large pine tree. Scramble up talus to a point directly below the pine tree. Rope up and climb a chimney which pinches down to an overhanging dihedral. Climb jamcracks and easier face climbing to a belay ledge at the base of a flake system. Follow these flakes up and left to the pine tree. Jam your way up two beautiful 2” to 3” parallel cracks to a roof, move left around the roof, and follow a squeeze chimney to the top of the buttress. Move up and left around a corner, joining the last pitch of After 5, ending atop Manure Pile Buttress proper. This climb is Grade III, 5.9.
