Description:

We had read the route desription, and it had told us to go around the base of the coulair to the left as there were some "nasty cliffs". We were curious to see what the definition of nasty cliffs was, so we peeked into the coulair. It was filled with water ice. we were stoked as we had brought the propper equipment. It turned out to be water ice three. I put the dog (Mr. Reinhold) in my back pack and carried him up this part. We climbed the mellow coulair above, with no complications until the cornice at the top of the mountain. Mr. Reinhold stood on top of it and it collapsed, starting an avalanch that nearly killed my partner....and did kill the dog. We both believe to this day, that he saved our lives....but miss him endlessly. Moral of the story, don't get caught in the coulair in bad conditions. It will try to kill you, we got lucky. Mr. Reinhold did not.

Descent Options:

If you cannot descend the route, you have a long haul ahead of you, Holy cross is a huge mountain.
