Description:

The Loft is the big snowy saddle in between Longs Peak and Mt Meeker. The popular and easy Clarks Arrow route heads left on Class 3 benches below the loft to the saddle. In the winter, a nice pitch of WI3 ice climbs directly into the Loft itself.

The approach is a beast for one pith of climbing(6 miles and 4000 of gain), but this is a nice way to hike up Longs or Meeker in the winter and still do some climbing.

5 out of 5 stars Ascent route to summit

Really fun, we made our way up the loft couloir, it was really windy and had to dodge ice and rock that rocketed down at us, the wind was really bad on the saddle that day and it took us about 30 min to cross it to the clarks arrow route which leads up to the home stretch. Make sure you follow the bulls eyes and drop down a good deal before starting to traverse toward the summit or else you'll end up in the exit cracks on the palisades.
