Description:
a right-facing dihedral on the first buttress of Hallet's, starting about 40 feet left of Hallet's Chimney. in the shade all day and can get windy. this route is a little vegetated in areas and has a short section of questionable rock quality, but with excellent holds. (meaning: maybe a bit unnerving for an inexperienced leader placing gear.)APPROACH: rack up below the dihedral's ledge down in the scree/ boulders as the descent spits you out much further down from where the route starts.
ROUTE: after leaving your packs...traverse left to start on a ledge. continue up the series of right-facing dihedrals and chimneys for 2 to 3 pitches. if you have a 60 meter rope, there are great belay ledges at 195 ft. for first two pitches and you end up at a huge grassy ledge where you scramble up below the face and choose your finish. scope out your finish before you leave the ledge. we did the upper face in 2 pitches as well with a 60 meter rope.
DESCENT: (2 short or) 1 double rope rappel off to the left where you top out. then scramble down.
