About Sawatch Range:
The Sawatch Range has the highest peaks in Colorado, and all the mountains are a lot of work to climb. There really aren't any good rock routes, but there are some excellent technical couloirs and good winter routes. |
Nearest town or city: | Leadville is the first town one passes through when approaching the Sawatch from the north (I-70). However, Buena Vista is the most central to the Sawatch (especially Collegiate Peaks) fourteeners and the nearest town to most of the Sawatch fourteeners. |
Directions: | The Sawatch is in between I70 and US 285(and extends just south of 285) west of US24. Access is different for each peak. |
