About Camp Dick:
About 50 problems on 10 or so boulders. Great granite bouldering in the high country with great views. There are two main areas of boulders. The first is the roadside boulders (Pyramid, Fingerbanger, etc) near the campground which are easily approached with a short walk. The second area is 3 miles down the trail where the fantastic Omniglobe boulder resides. Classics in this area include Put Some Hair Around It (V8) and Ball that Jack (V5). Snowmelt from the spring can make the approach to the Omniglobe epic. SEASON: Spring, Summer, and Fall. CAMPING: About $10 a night in a very crowded campground, unless you drive in a half mile or more on 4x4 trail then you can camp for free. |

Directions: | FROM DENVER: take I-25 north to US-36 west through Boulder to Lyons. From Lyons, take Colorado Highway 7 for 12 miles to Colorado 72, then south for 4 miles. FROM ESTES PARK: head south on CR 72 then take a left on CR 92. You will see a sign for Camp Dick Campground. Drive through to the end of the campground till you get to a parking area. If you have a burly 4X4 then you can drive further where the pavement becomes dirt road. (WARNING: this is a very burly, bumpy 4X4 road. The road is so bumpy that you will be driving about 5 miles an hour or less. Hiking or biking is a better method of approach). |
