Description:

Cackle Crack climbs the beautiful hand crack dihedral on the right side of Hens and Chickens. The climbing is steep and sustained, but the jams are very solid with good rest stances every few feet. This is one of the best single pitches of 5.8 at Lumpy Ridge.

Skip the bolted anchor left of the crack and go for the top - you miss out on fun climbing if you rap early. The walkoff is easy - a trail leads back to the base.

4 out of 5 stars Good and sustained

Crack is larger than it looks from the ground. Took a #4 and was glad of it. The finish to the top is fun with easy walk off up and right.

5 out of 5 stars A good way to end the day

Fun crack with good protection. Go up another 25-30 feet past the bolts to finish on a nice ledge. Scramble climber's left; do not go down the first gully, continue left till you're over Yosemite Crack and then it's an easy walk down.

5 out of 5 stars Way fun

You can hit some bolts instead of topping out to toprope the adjacent climb. The walkoff from the top is also easy. Try not to commit to the right crack for too long at the top as it will throw you off-balance. A good low comittment climb for when the rain is marching in.

Very fun dihedral with perfect jams and a bulging crux, continued past the bolts for another 25 ft of hand jamming
