About Pallisade Mountain:
| Brad B. rediscovered the Pallisade in 1999 or so. He hiked up from the Big Thompson Canyon to find the Mini D aka Fairview wall ( Gillets' name for diamond shaped formation in new crag areas guide). Brad told me of the big crags and we made the heinous journey with dogs and full packs from the river we climbed six or so piches that day and ascended the behind MiniD wall loose death crack then returned to the river in sixteen hours. It was a Great day for adventure .WE failed to see bolts and obvious routes. I believe Gary Sapp of Combat Rock was first ascent of Mini D but I really dont care it provided an inspiring challenge to us and many Hard Man practice sessions that greatly improved our climbing abilities. |

| Directions: | Park at damn hike directly up gully for excellent Mans Day, I would rate this dog 2b or Class 3. If you grew up a puse sport climber or are carring a baby I reccomend driving to Cedar park keep right thru bears then turn right at mountain four way pause. Continue up the Pallissade Mountain Road to the end. The Camping area is closed due to stoopid people ad residents are wary of new commers. Best to park at big turn around. Hike to NE up old reclaimed jeep trail to Gneiss alter. Many great views of Longs and RMNP. Hike up ridge for about .75 mile looking for Carins then follow to N about 1mile orso to saddle South of MiniD. I hope you get lost and Bushwhack the whole mountain I have more than once. |
