About Poudre - Other Bouldering Areas:

A few other bouldering areas other than the 420's exist up the Poudre Canyon. Hatchery Rocks(V2-V5), the 'Pullout' (V0-V4), The Bog (V0-V8+?, mostly V4+), the Merlin boulder, and the Gandalf area (no info yet). The first three are downcanyon from the 420's. The Merlin and Gandalf areas are further up the canyon.

SEASON: Year round possibilities. Winter can be snowy but good friction days can be found. Best is fall and spring. You have to cross the Poudre River for the Bog and Gandalf areas so the river may be uncrossable until mid summer.

CAMPING: Pay areas are along the road. Try Sleeping Elephant Campground.

Nearest town or city: Kinikinik
Directions: The bog is located across the braided Poudre about 1/4 mile upstream of the RCT. Cross the river - bring sandals and a towel - and look for the boulders. Hatchery Rock is about 1 mile before RCT and visible on the right side of the road, it is in Colorado Bouldering by Benningfield. The 'Pullout' is just upcanyon on the right from Hatchery Rock and also before RCT. Look for a dirt road leading to a flat area with small boulders in the trees and some dirt piles.
