About Checkerboard Wall:
This is a good cragging area in the Black - relatively easy approach, good rock, and short 6 pitch climbs. Access it via the Cruise Gully, and hang a left on a faint trail just after the second rappel. The approach takes about 20 minutes if the raps are fixed, maybe a little longer if not.
All route end on a big ledge below the summit pinnacle. Walk left along the ledge on a trail, and bushwhack up an unpleasant 4th class gully to the rim. Wander along the rim back to the Cruise Gully trail. The walkoff takes about 30-40 minutes and is no fun.
