About South Chasm View Wall:

The brooding, complex 2000 foot wall which is easily visible from the overlook atop North Chasm View Wall. South Chasm has no easy routes (unless you consider V 5.10+ R easy) and also has the Black's only 5.13 free route, along with many serious 11s and 12s. Astrodog (V 5.11+) is the most popular route; hardfolks like to link it with the Scenic Cruise in a day. Two common approaches: 1) rappel 11 times, starting about 50 feet climbers' left of the Chasm View Overlook on the south rim (beware an error on the guidebook topo; the rap shown to the "Two Boulder Bivy Ledge" does not reach that ledge but instead a hidden station about 50' up and climber's left.) 2) Descend the Cruise Gully and cross the river by tyrolean traverse; this requires having someone to pick you, or re-entering the canyon, likely via the rappels, then climbing and/or slogging back up to the North Rim. There are also at least 4 other obscure and seldom used approaches.
