From 285 East, take the Powers Ferry Road exit and turn right. Another right puts you on Powers Ferry/Akers Mill Road, running parallel to the freeway. Just before you reach the river, take a left into the office complex behind Ray’s On The River restaurant. Head to the parking lot behind the office building past Ray's, near the river (there is no boat ramp...not sure why Dixie Cragger's says that). The trail starts near the river, through a fence, and passes a small boulder. Follow the trail downstream toward the cliffs.
To reach the cliffs across the river, find the Riverbend Apartment Complex and park by the tennis courts. A decent trail winds along the river for a few hundred yards to the cliff. From there, you may scramble up and around the left side to get to the top, where there may be a few older belay anchors below the rim. |
