This area used to be popular with top-ropers. Now the summit bares scars from a fire and there isn't much to sling. If you plan on top roping bring long slings. This area is full of sport rappellers and the party crowd, it also has a collection of trash at the bottom. DIRECTIONS: From KY 715 turn onto Chimney Top Road and drive 3 miles. There is a pull-off on the right, park here. The trail is on the other side of the road and follows a ridge west to Half Moon. You will be on the summit... to access the base scramble left when the rock becomes visible. |
