This cliche found throughout Maine truly sums up this magnificent state. Not only packed with spectacular scenery, and peaceful vacation areas, it has many quality "hidden-jewel" climbing areas. Not to be missed, though, is the scenery and climbing in Acadia National Park and Baxter State Park.

Acadia National Park is the eastern-most national park in the country and definitely one of the best. It's an awesome place to explore, make memories, vacation, and do some serious climbing while surrounded by the breathtaking scenery.

Baxter State Park is the terminus of the Appalachian Trail and home of Maine's tallest mountain, Mount Katahdin. The park and mountain boast some superb climbing and are worth the trip.

Getting Here: Many visitors take the trek by car up I-95 into Maine but if you are flying, the Portland Jetport offers entry to the Southern, Western, and Midcoast part of the state with flights daily from various cities in the US as well as Canada.
The Bangor International Airport is the gateway to Downeast and Northern Maine.

The climbing is spread throughout the state and in a few hours drive you can find yourself climbing in the woods, along the seacoast, or end up atop Mt. Katadin's 5,268 summit.
