Black Rock
About Black Rock:
| Max vertical gain 85'. Sometimes incorrectly called White Rock and often refered to as Crag 6. Rock faces ENE having many distinct sections. Vanessa's picture for this section shows the "5.6 Slab". That is a very popular face having excellent TR and lead climbing on 6 distinct routes. This entire crag has wonderful high bouldering at easy to moderate grades. Many lines are over several ledges, cutting down the exposure. Other lines are quite exposed and make for good TR and lead climbing. Parking for six cars is at the end of Goodyear Ave, off Washington Street, Melrose. Goodyear Ave. is 1/3 mile north of the Oak Grove T stop on the Orange Line (subway). |
