Description:

Not in guide book. Shares chains with Broken Keg Blues (70). Guide book shows routes 70 and 71 sharing anchors, not so. Beer Barrel Arete (71) has own anchors, while Broken Keg Blues (70) and this route, 70a, share anchors. This is my favorite of the climbs on Haystack Rock simply because it starts off more vertical and gets off the thin slab for a while.
