About Big Creek - S.St. Mary:

Beautiful Crisp granite edges and a fine view of the Bitterroot valley, Big Creek can be a challenge to find yet worth the effort.
Nearest town or city: Stevensville
Directions: From Missoula take highway 93 South for about 25 1/2 miles just after a small bridge there is a paved road called St. Marys Peak Rd. Take this road, just after 2 miles the road will drop down into a small ravine and when you come up out of the ravine there will be another dirt road that goes to your right, there a forest sevice sign and a you will cross a cattle guard. continue up this road for 3/4 of a mile the road will fork and you want to take road on your left called Mcalla Creek RD. or road # 1319. Take this road for about 4 miles. When you get to the second landing with the view of Big Creek Canyon park and look to your left for a faint trail heading around the knob. Follow for about 10 minutes heading slightly uphill until you reach a heavily mossed tree and or a couple of small boulders. Start looking for the scree slope heading downhill and you can't miss the rock.
