4 out of 5 stars Go left young man

Another sandbagged route!! Either that our trad is giving me a serious head trip. Crux is getting off the ground and first couple moves off the ledge half way up. I took the left crack instead of the right because it looked like it protected better.

Be aware of the anchors at top. It is VERY slick below them, so clip in before moving over from the crack. There is also a mangy mess of tattered webbing on the anchors. If I had a knife with me I would have removed it. The webbing is also red, white and blue, making it very visible on the white rock :(.

Frustrated with myself though, hung on one piece of gear towards the top. Had I learned about equalizing pieces of pro one day earlier I would have been fine, but thanks to my trad clinic at RRR I'm prepared for the next time.

3 out of 5 stars First lead in Red Rock Canyon

My brother's first time climbing as well. A long, but fun approach. A bit chilly and dark.
