Solar Slab Area
About Solar Slab Area:
Description: Solar Slab is the large, 1500' white face on the south side of Rainbow Mountain as you enter Oak Creek Canyon. This area is home to a multitude of routes, and because of the massive terrace at the 500' mark, it allows for many different linkups, allowing for an awesome day at your preferred grade.
Approach: Park in the Oak Creek pullout and head off on the trail that starts on the west side of the lot, heading directly for the mouth of the canyon. As you approach, the wall comes into view. Follow the trail until you're more or less directly below the wall and start looking for a climbers trail heading up to the base. This trail takes you to the base of Johnny Vegas and Solar Slab Gully.
Beta / Updates: Update: All of the descent options from the summit of Solar Slab proper are listed in the Black Orpheus description. Since the two climbs top out in virtually the same place, and most folks do not top out on Solar Slab, this was the best place to put the information.
