Scramble onto a tree ledge up and right from the start of Retaliation. P1. Follow the left hand crack to a ledge at 30'. P2. Continue up the left crack, when possible move into the right hand crack and follow it to join Retaliation in time to enjoy the crux of that route. Belay ledge on the left. P3. Follow Retaliation to the top

A hidden classic, surprisingly few people do this route. The old Handren guide climbs the route as described, and I did the same, with pitches rated .10b, .10b, .6. The first pitch did feel a touch harder than the longer and more enjoyable second pitch, but I sure would not go at .10d.
Nice HARD line for the grade. First, 40', pitch is called 10D not B and is all of that. The second half of the climb (to the final Retaliation belay) is graded 9+ which I think is a bit of a sand-bag - maybe 10A?
